Job Purpose

National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented professional to be part of Solutions Engineering team as an Environment engineering lead. You will be responsible to execute the Environment engineering activities aligned to SDLC and will work closely with product engineering teams to understand the non-production environment requirements on our platforms. This Role requires a highly motivated individual that is comfortable with rapid changes in direction and a fluid environment. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, approachable, dependable, and reliable with good business sense and judgment. This position also requires a self-starter with the ability to manage & prioritize product/platforms non-production environment demand.

The Environment Engineering Lead, reporting to the Environment Engineering Architect of Quality Engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivery of all test environment solution architecture activities across a programme of work and to coordinate test environments for multiple application development groups. This will include test environments for both isolated subsystems and end-to-end environments configuration while using a mixture of cloud-based infrastructure and bare metal systems

Key Accountabilities

  • The Environment engineer will be accountable for managing the delivery of stable “fit for purpose” integrated test environments across multiple projects and programmes. This includes provisioning of existing legacy environments to support the end to end testing.
  • Deliver Environment strategy and Environment delivery plan.
  • Creating strategic direction of test environment usage and be responsible for the booking and scheduling of all test environments in conjunction with the Environment Engineering architect and ensure control of environment usage and establishment of a robust calendar of use.
  • Establish and maintain a refresh plan for environments as well as scheduling and managing E2E data refreshes
  • Ensuring Test Environments are connected and available, Publish and maintain the quality standards for handling code refreshes across Programme environments.
  • Ensuring Environment audit been done regularly as per National Grid Standard to adhere to compliant procedure for both hardware and software licensing.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience of test environment and data engineering management.
  • Exposure to Enterprise level Stake holder management, Product Engineering, Agile/SaFe, Utilities domain experience.
  • Experience in Test Data & Environment management and Test Automation tools like selenium.
  • Experience in Devops tool like Bit Bucket,Jira/XRAY, Jenkins, Confluence, Sonar Cube, Docker, Kubernetes platform
  • Experience in Data management tool like Delphix, Genrocket,
