Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Architect to join our Flight Physics Capability team in the Filton office, reporting in to the Head of Flight Physics Capabilities.

This team are responsible for moving our legacy software environment to a digitalised, cloud based set of solutions enabling the overall aircraft design. You will be an integral part of the team working on the Future end to end design and development solution which will be a step change in the way Aircraft are designed.

We are a collaborative and transnational team who believe in empowering our people, in simplifying our Airbus engineers day-to-day processes and tools, and driving innovation.

In the role you will be collaborating with and supporting on a daily basis software architects, developers, end users from different Airbus centers in Europe, India and Canada and external partners.

If successful, you will be subject to a BPSS check including a criminal record check.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Designing modern software architecture following standard frameworks (event driven, microservices, 3-tier, etc.)
  • Supporting software development teams (object oriented - Python / Java / C++ etc.)
  • Promoting the adoption of industry standard technologies in Flight Physics solutions: AWS/Cloud, REST/APIs, Docker/Containers, Javascript/Typescript/Web technologies (including Google apps)
  • Deploying and designing for high performance computing, remote desktops and job batching
  • Continuous integration processes and DevOps for software development: Git/GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube and Artifactory
  • PLM/3DX tools & processes
  • Agile / Scrum project management

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

  • Communicates well in a clear, concise manner and present a well rounded business case
