Join our financial services advisory team and develop your career through advising financial services institutions and investors on critical commercial and value-related issues in situations of strategic change and commercial importance, notably M&A.

Our financial services commercial due diligence team, which is part of Deloitte Advisory Corporate Finance, advises clients on high profile assignments that have significant impact. In particular, our clients seek advice in situations where there is material value and / or commercial impacts, including:

  • M&A, joint ventures, investments and divestments
  • Strategic and tactical decision making
  • Capital raising and share issuance
  • Turnaround situations and re-financing

Our team of professionals come from diverse backgrounds to bring together skills and experiences to deliver market leading client service and advice. The team is set to grow quickly to meet the significant client demand and we are looking for an experienced Assistant Director to join our London and/or Edinburgh team.

Your role

Your work will be varied and will offer you great opportunities to develop your commercial due diligence and financial analytical skills and experience in the situations described above.

As an Assistant Director in our team you will play an integral part in advising our clients on commercial due diligence and value related matters across the financial services industry.

You will be expected to:

  • Manage and execute commercial due diligence engagements, from the planning stage through to delivery
  • Apply your financial services and financial analytical knowledge and experience to important client issues
  • Develop, review and interpret analysis and present clearly articulated and insightful conclusions
  • Develop effective relationships with stakeholders across both our clients and Deloitte
  • Actively pursue new revenue opportunities and engage in business development opportunities
  • Manage diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • Effectively develop and coach more junior team members

You can be based in either our London or Edinburgh office. The role may also involve travel and will require the flexibility to at times meet peaks of work inherent in our client engagements.

Your professional experience

Your professional experience should include:

  • Commercial advisory experience in the financial services industry, preferably across multiple industry sectors
  • Consulting experience, whether as a client facing external consultant within another “Big 4” or top tier consulting firm or within the corporate development team of a financial services institution
  • Significant experience of performing complex analyses, as well as interpreting and presenting conclusions in a concise and clear manner
  • Project management and project organisation, including working across several projects simultaneously, effectively prioritising and delegating tasks
  • Involvement in business development activities and an ability to establish long term business relationships
  • Valuation exposure and/or experience

Your professional skills should include:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written communication
  • Commercial due diligence and/or valuation experience
  • Project management and project execution skills
  • Exceptional financial analytical skills with experience of working with large data sets and attention to detail
  • Outstanding team building skills emanating from being a reliable and inclusive team member
