Your role
The Analyst in this role will be based in Cardiff and work within the National Accounting and Assurance department (NAA). This division of the firm is responsible for a variety of quality, risk, regulatory and compliance projects and support activities.
A vacancy has arisen in the audit excellence team within NAA, for a dynamic and flexible individual with strong analytical, communication and IT skills (particularly MS Excel) to help meet the increasingly high demands placed on this busy, exciting and innovative team.
The audit excellence team is focused on making it easy for our audit practitioners to do the right thing – helping them achieve the highest standards of audit quality and effectiveness through the timely provision of audit guidance and support resources and consultation on audit execution.
The team’s main responsibilities include updating and maintaining audit policies, guidance, content for our audit software and supporting guides and practice aides in accordance with relevant auditing standards and regulation and communicating any changes to the audit practice.
We work with global and North South Europe colleagues and in external forums to respond to regulatory consultations, influencing the development of auditing and assurance standards and relevant regulations both for the UK and internationally.
In addition, our audit excellence team works on a number of key projects to support the audit methodology aspects of learning programmes, transformation and innovation activities, responding to regulatory reviews and risk issues and the development of new audit related tools and technologies.
Underpinning all of these activities is also a focus on inspiring people – both through making audit work more rewarding to our practitioners and through challenging people in the Audit Excellence team to increase their auditing skills.

The role is expected to grow and evolve rapidly both as the National Accounting and Assurance department expands in Cardiff, and in response to regular changes experienced in our operating environment. Additionally, individuals who demonstrate sufficient capacity and commitment in their primary roles will be given the opportunity to contribute to other projects, thus aiding their personal development.

Location: Cardiff
Work pattern: This is a permanent opportunity. The role can be worked on a full-time or part-time basis. Hybrid working pattern is offered for this role (in the office 1-2 times a week)

The National Accounting and Assurance (NAA) community is an overarching identity for a number of teams, including Accounting and Corporate reporting, the Quality Corporate Reporting Centre of Excellence (QCR), Audit Excellence Audit Quality & Risk management inspections, Risk and Regulation, Regulatory Compliance and Learning, EQCR & PSR and client service technology team. In NAA we are dedicated to supporting audit teams in delivering excellent service and maintaining audit quality. We are based in London and Cardiff but serve the whole firm nationally. The team is made up of a mixture of permanent staff and secondees from the audit service line.
Regulatory Compliance and Learning
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations for which we must provide regulatory returns to maintain our licenses to operate and ensure our Partners and Employees are appropriately upskilled to work on a variety of engagements. Personal independence
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm.
