An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Calibration & Control department within Powertrain is responsible to deliver the power pack calibrations for all Jaguar Land Rover products to meet the emissions, fuel economy and vehicle performance targets. The ATT team is especially responsible for the air path, torque and thermal management calibrations.

On this postgraduate student placement, you’ll develop robust and efficient engine/vehicles sign-off tests using a system engineering approach to validate that the powertrain calibrations meet all the requirements and work with internal stakeholders to perform these tests on current engine programs.

As part of your role, you’ll review enhanced boundary diagrams and calibrations requirements with stakeholders as well as lead meetings or workshops to resolve potential identified gaps in requirement definition. You’ll be developing engine/vehicle sign off tests to stress the calibration against requirements with clear pass/fail criteria. Another part will be developing the automatic post-processing tools with Matlab in order to analyse test results and reduce data management efforts.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

With a strong interest in Intelligent System Design and CAE, you’ll be pursuing a postgraduate degree in engineering (computer science, mechanical, controls, electrical or similar) or applied mathematics. It would be beneficial to the role for the applicant to also have experience in vehicle simulation, Matlab and Simulink; and ideally you’ll have knowledge of rapid control prototyping, data logging and vehicle electrification.

A resilient and enthusiastic self-starter with a genuine interest in Powertrain calibration and desire to develop your skills in engine fundamentals and engine/vehicle testing, you’ll be able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to new ideas and inputs.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
