An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Thermofluids and Integration team are responsible for using analytical techniques within the Powertrain department to develop and optimise the internal combustion engines engineered at JLR.

On this postgraduate student placement, your main objective is to improve the current analytical tools used to predict engine warm-up characteristics; undertake in-depth studies into areas such as engine friction, and apply analytical techniques to support engine programmes in the concept and delivery phases.

As part of your role, you’ll contribute to the development of 1D warm-up models within the team, you’ll evaluate existing friction models based on their accuracy and suitability to warm-up modelling.

Using existing and developed models to understand the sensitivity of warm-up to key parameters and support in providing data and models to other teams within Jaguar Land Rover.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

With a strong interest in thermofluids and integration, you’ll be pursuing a postgraduate degree in engineering, science or mathematics, have experience with CAE software such as 1D GT-Suite, Amesim, 3D Star-CCM+ or SAR-CD. A good understanding of engine and driveline technology and performance metrics is also required. Experience in engine or vehicle simulations is desirable but not essential.

A resilient self-starter with the ability to resolve technical challenges with limited guidance, you’ll be able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to new ideas and inputs. Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment as well as independently are also required.

BENEFITS

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
