The opportunity:

Insurance Solutions within Business Technology Solutions seeks a Senior Java Developer for a Guidewire based solution to support a global, business-critical application.

In this role, you will collaborate in a SCRUM team primarily with other developers, business analysts, testers and business stakeholders spread around the world to build, implement, operate, and maintain new underwriting pricing products across multiple Commercial Insurance lines of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As part of a dynamic project team spread across multiple locations develop, and subsequently maintain new business-driven global products on a Guidewire platform, specifically utilising PolicyCentre 10.1, to simplify current Underwriting processes and the Commercial Insurance system landscape.
  • Working within a fast-paced agile framework, participate in new product development based on business requirements (defined during ‘Inception’ working sessions with multiple stakeholders) ensuring coding meets Guidewire standards.
  • Work on integrated development tasks, including creating reusable GW based frameworks
  • When not working on new product releases participate in Maintenance Releases developing smaller projects (such as integrations with other applications, ongoing performance assessments, enhancements to current products, identifying and fixing bugs etc.) writing code in GOSU/Java for configuration work and/or integration development and ensure tickets are comprehensively updated for reference.
  • Within the project development team suggest and share ideas, align with other developers and document methods of coding for specific topics to ensure transparency.
  • Configure, upgrade, and solve issues on the lower environment servers
  • Configure and solve issues in the CI/CD pipeline based on Bamboo
  • Identify/code fix database issues (possibly due to illegal product model changes)
  • Participate in ongoing unit testing and subsequent UAT ensuring bugs are identified and correctly fixed within the project framework

Your skills and experience:

  • 5+ Years of GW PolicyCenter Configuration experience with good exposure to SDLC and Java EE
  • Experience with full SDLC and iterative (Agile) development lifecycle as used in GW implementations
  • Hands-on GW Implementation Proficiency and Experience in GW Configuration Development - Expertise configuring and developing several areas of PolicyCenter – Policy Transactions/Job Configuration, Experience implementing multiple LOBs, Product Modelling, Quoting, Rating Management, Reinsurance Management, Forms Management, Policy Revisioning, UW Authority, Account Management, Contacts, Locations, User Management, Producer Management and PolicyCenter Administration
  • Experience with XML, G-Unit, Jenkins, GIT/Subversion/TFS, Code Coverage and Code Scan Plugin/Tools
  • Leadership – Assertive, Sharp with the ability to inspire, bring out the best in individuals and develop a strong configuration team to deliver quality configurations
  • Excellent communication skills, Onsite – Offshore co-ordination
  • Large Scale System Delivery Experience preferably for Policy Administration Systems
  • At least 2 years of experience in at least one large Business Integration effort and project team through all phases of the project lifecycle from scoping and planning, requirements gathering, design, development, testing,
  • Expert Level Guidewire/Java Developers with Guidewire Policy Center, preferably on version 10.
  • Working experience in Agile and DevOps tools: JIRA, Git, Bamboo (SVN and Jenkins are assets)
  • Strong Java Skills
  • Strong Java J2EE developer (preferably Java 8)
  • 5-8 years of applied java development experience
  • Strong integration development experience
  • Strong Database experience – MS SQL Server
  • Strong experience with XML and JSON
