Your career starts on Magnet.me

Create a profile and receive smart job recommendations based on your liked jobs.

You will develop specialist skills in particular domains, but there are a number of common features which run across the placements. You’ll be capturing requirements and providing standardised solutions, for instance, in support of specific IS-related projects. There’s work with external suppliers to manage contracts and you’ll be measuring service levels against performance metrics. We’ll also expect you to get involved in proactive maintenance of our IS assets, which may involve change, configuration, release, capacity and performance management.

Training & development

You can expect to receive some formal training on the technologies/platforms relevant to the IS domain in which you are asked to work. In addition, you can expect to participate in the following:

  • Service Level Reviews with supplier partners. Analysis of supplier performance against contractual service levels and ITIL standards.
  • Assessment of effectiveness of problem management and the management of corrective actions.
  • The representation of IS departments at Change Advisory Boards.
  • Ownership of Service Assurance tasks/audit programme.
  • Service Development Centre of Excellence forum, producing monthly reports on project progress.
  • Assessing the alignment of supplier solution specifications with IS Business Plan, Asset Management Plan and architecture standards.
  • IS governance forums (IS Programme Board), presenting details of the IS Programme for that period and progress against plan.

Where might it lead?

You will develop the skills and experience to undertake a range of business and IT analysis tasks, which will enhance your credibility for a variety of career paths within the IT industry. You will also gain valuable exposure to the entire system/service lifecycle. In particular, there’s a chance to learn the skills and behaviours required to be effective in supplier management, contract management, IS governance and customer service.
