You’ll work in one of our global McKinsey offices as part of our global Talent Management team. Our global Talent Management team drives the talent strategy for technology pathways at McKinsey, collaborating with our partners, senior leaders and our different people functions (recruiting, learning, professional development, compensation, etc.) to ensure we drive a compelling talent approach to attract, develop, excite and retain exceptional people. This role services the needs of our firm technology organization, focusing on product and engineer talent, and contributing to the overall technology talent team and technology guilds across the firm.

You’ll be part of the overall technology talent team and specifically support the talent needs of our firm technology organization and their continued transformation to a strategic and progressive technology organization. You will work with our senior technology leaders to structure, oversee and implement a robust talent strategy for our technology pathways while ensuring alignment with the firm’s overall Technology strategy.


You will ensure that our technologists are well represented across all relevant talent initiatives and that voice is heard with overall technology path leaders.

In this role, you will be a counselor to line managers and other individuals as needed on development, evaluation and recognition, supporting identification or high potential colleagues and working with managers to address talent issues and opportunities.

You will work as part of the broader technology talent team to determine the people model and value proposition for the broader technology pathways. You will define role progression and trajectory which both meets the strategic talent needs for technology and fits within the broader approach to technical talent across McKinsey. This will include determining best practice approaches for development and required tools for evaluation (e.g., performance criteria).

You will support workforce planning and talent moves and maintain accuracy of the organizational structure and data across our people systems. You will work with compensation Center of Excellence to define compensation structure at the firm and collaborate with recruiting experts to define the assessment strategy and value proposition including how to position technology roles relative to others at the firm.

You will work closely with learning to ensure learning is up to date and tailored to the path and lead cross-cutting technology related talent projects including bringing expertise and strong collaboration skills to shape and execute the broader technology talent agenda.


  • University degree with excellent academic record; advanced degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in talent management, professional development, HR strategy or recruiting in a dynamic environment; recent experience with talent management in the tech industry is a big plus
  • Good understanding of technology roles and tech organizations
  • Passion for talent development and for innovation in this space
  • Good client relationship skills; proven effectiveness in acting as a thought partner to senior colleagues
  • Entrepreneurial drive; ability to see what is possible in the midst of complexity and uncertainty, and taking bold action
  • External orientation with a network of technology practitioners; curiosity and insight on best practices from peer organizations
  • Inspirational leadership skills and growth mindset; excellent engagement/project leadership skills
