WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

You will explore structural pattern recognition methods to recognize long-term human behavior. For example, replacing an item: first a person enters the scene, then he walks to a table, places an object on the table, takes another object, and finally walks away from the table.

Our current algorithms are able to recognize the short-term human actions, such as walking, placing an item, and taking an item. In 2016, we explored a new method for recognizing long-term behaviors by modelling them as a sequence of short-term actions. Currently, it is able to recognize a sequence where one person is doing the sequential actions. Your challenge is to extend the method to recognize sequences that involve multiple persons.

We will learn you about video processing, feature extraction and pattern recognition. You will be supervised by our behavior recognition expert and you will learn on the job. Your job will be to explore ways to extend the long-term behavior recognition method to analyze multi-person activities.

The Intelligent Imaging research group is a young, passionate and creative group of professionals (40 people) specialized in the development of groundbreaking applications in the fields of computer vision and deep learning. One third of the group has started working for us in the past two years.

WHAT DO WE REQUIRE OF YOU?

You are in the final stages of your degree in artificial intelligence, computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a similar degree and have some track record in the field of computer vision. You have experience in programming in Matlab , you are pragmatic and focused on making things work. Next to technical expertise we value communication skills and a clientoriented, results-driven attitude to add value to our clients and the Dutch society as a whole.
