We are currently seeking a Data Scientist III, Product Analyst to join our team at Expedia Group.

As part of the Product Data Science and Analytics team, you will bring your experience and blend of business analytics and data science skills to bear on business problems and product development and optimization opportunities. An ideal candidate will balance business acumen and statistical knowledge to support a wide range of products throughout the product lifecycle.

As a DSA III applicant, you will have 4+ years of post-degree experience, which may include academic work. You will have demonstrated significant and sustained change and performance improvement from data-driven insights in a number of different areas or contexts, and/or built and maintained a data science project/product in production environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a large complex data set. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Conduct and own analyses that include data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, and presentations.
  • Manage stakeholders with frequent communications, expectations management, meeting deadlines, maximising impact, and minimising surprises.
  • Work with different functions, making business recommendations (e.g., cost-benefit, experiment design and analysis) with effective presentation of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual display of quantitative information.
  • Proactively identify and quantify opportunities using data.

Experiences:

  • Experience articulating and translating business questions using logical thinking and statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data.
  • Ability to work with data using SQL and tools for statistical analysis (e.g., Python)
  • Hold a strong understanding of statistics and probability.
  • Be a good communicator, able to present complex analysis in an easily understandable way.
  • Demonstrated ability to project ownership, project management and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in significant and sustained change and performance improvement from data-driven insights in several different areas or contexts, and/or built and maintained a data science project/product in production environments.

Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a similar position
  • Academic background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, engineering, operations research, data science, economics, or similar.
