Nuclear Engineering Internship Programme

£17,850 pa (pro rata)

The Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project, for example, represents a once in a lifetime opportunity for UK nuclear companies to design, manufacture and build next generation reactors to meet the UK's energy needs. The programme

Our 12-month internship programme is designed to give you both insight and experience. Working on live projects in our Civil Nuclear or Submarines division, your role will involve problem solving and designing integrated systems for optimal effectiveness. You'll be learning from some of the most respected and highly qualified professionals in the field and, as you develop, the challenges will increase in complexity and responsibility. You can expect a blend of on-the-job learning, training modules and project work. And because you'll be working in a real-world business context, you'll have every chance to make an impact. If you're a student member of an institute, experience gained on your internship can be used to credit some of your learning towards your graduate programme and chartership status, should you choose to join us.

Qualifications

What you'll need

You'll need a 2:1 minimum bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, to include Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Maths, Chemistry or Physics.

Just as importantly, you'll have excellent communication skills and plenty of initiative. Inquisitive and resourceful, you'll always be looking for new ways to make your mark. You should also be flexible in terms of where you're based.

Due to the nature of this work, we're unable to employ anyone who doesn't have the legal right to live and work in the UK. This role is subject to Full UK Security Clearance and if you have spent more than three months outside of the UK in the last five years (e.g. travelling, working, living), we might not be able to employ you.
