Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.

What will you do as a Scrum Master?

Lightyear is growing immensely! You will become part of the Software domain within the Technology Circle. As a Scrum Master at Lightyear you will be responsible for guiding, coaching and helping the software team.

You see a message in the chat about something going wrong for the product delivery. A colleague picks this up and says they will help. You celebrate this comment with a balloon in the chat and get yourself a cup of coffee before the daily.

During the daily standup, the team is giving updates and asking help where needed. You hear some unclarity and ask if people know what is needed or know who can help them. The team stops to think and comes up with a way to get more information and more clarity. You ask if they will meet the sprint goal. They say: “yes! But now, more importantly, when will we have beers together?”

You smile and start planning the next retrospective in the office, with beers of course. During the scrum of scrums, you tell your teammates this team is on a roll and exchange knowledge. The new scrum master wants to come and have a look and you start wondering how you’ll build down the coaching of this great team and celebrate their growth together. The other teams you’re helping could benefit from learnings and you wonder if you should also invite them for beers, so they can connect with each other.

As Lightyear is still a young company you have plenty of opportunity to make your mark in our processes and tools with collaboration with the rest of the software team. You regularly have discussions with the team and join our Friday week review before heading off to our epic Friday afternoon drinks and at the end of the week having a highly contributed feeling about the achieved results! Building the way forward for Lightyear.

Your job will consist of but is not limited to:

  • Coach the team getting into a flow together
  • Make sure impediments are discussed
  • Help the PO in their role
  • Guide the team in a way of working that helps them solve problems and deliver their work
  • Increase autonomy, alignment and Lightyear mindset
  • Train the team in working in an iterative way
