Human Factors has a crucial role in maintaining Babcock’s high safety standards – whether it’s nuclear, radiological, conventional or environmental safety. Over the course of two years, you will work across a range of teams, projects and facilities, providing the full breadth of your specialist knowledge to make a positive contribution to safe operations.

Where you can join us

Places on our Human Factors graduate programme for Autumn 2018 are available in our Marine (Plymouth) sector. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

What you'll be doing

Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you’ll ensure that we set our staff up for success, in terms of having the right equipment, working environment, knowledge, procedures and organisational support to do their jobs safely. You will undertake a wide variety of challenging and exciting projects that cover the full design and safety lifecycle, from concept development through to construction, in-service support and decommissioning, as well as incident investigation and reporting – a rewarding experience that no other employer can provide.

What you'll get out of it

We’ll match your passions to your skills to help you build a rewarding career as a versatile and highly competent Human Factors professional. When you’re playing such an important role, you need great support to develop – and that’s what you can expect. As well as professional mentoring, we’ll give you the experience needed to become a Chartered Ergonomist and Human Factors Specialist. You’ll also be starting on a competitive salary of £28k - £30k (depending on location, role and qualifications).

What you'll need

You’ll need a 2:2 BSc (Hons) degree in a Human Factors, Ergonomics or related behavioural science subject (e.g. Psychology, Cognitive Science). You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).

Applications for this programme are currently open. To avoid disappointment we recommend that you apply sooner rather than later as we work on a rolling basis and where we experience large volumes of applications, we will close the role early.
