WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will work in McKinsey’s Amsterdam office as part of our Sustainability Strategy Analytics (SSA) team which is one of the departments within Sustainability Insights (SI).

SSA develops proprietary models and data foundations on optimal decarbonization pathways of countries, sectors, companies and even individual products or production steps. As a member of the SSA team, you will work closely with other SSA and SI team members, our global sustainability leadership and other McKinsey colleagues on client engagements. You will provide distinctive analyses, insights and support to clients all over the world.

The SSA team comprises of business analysts as well as modelers and specialists who are responsible for identifying available decarbonization levers for all global sources of emissions and assessing the underlying technology assumptions, pathways and business case. The team works in a start-up environment and is growing rapidly in locations such as Amsterdam, London, Wroclaw, Lisbon, Silicon Valley, Boston, Dallas and Costa Rica.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will work alongside Sustainability Insights’ specialists and apply proprietary tools and methodologies as well as follow data-driven approaches to solve the most challenging sustainability problems our clients are facing today.

In your role, your responsibilities can take you anywhere from planning a bottom-up decarbonization plan for a specific industrial site to creating macroscopic energy outlooks through 2050 on the impact of different climate policies for institutional investors or public sector clients.

You will conduct research and analysis covering a broad range of topics across various sectors and business functions. In your first 6-12 months with the team, you will work on many internal product development tasks. You will have plenty of growth opportunities to specialize in a particular area of the energy transition and global decarbonization effort. Over time, you will further develop by taking ownership over the development and growth of new capabilities within SSA and you will develop into a world-class expert on those perspectives acting as a thought partner to McKinsey senior leadership and our clients. In your second year, you will be spending at least 50% of your time directly serving our clients.

You will contribute to the further development of our products as well as serving our clients together with our client service teams. You will be responsible for building web applications and excel models, and creating PowerPoint documents on specific sustainability-related topics for internal and external publication.

You will engage in recruitment activities and presentations to clients and participate in external events. You will also receive plenty of support and inspiring challenges through on-the-job coaching and training programs.
