DevOps Engineer

Amsterdam

Fulltime

Job description

Visma Nmbrs is growing. And with growth comes change, and with change comes challenges. We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to embrace and contribute to our consistent growth by joining our Squad Infra!

Who we are

Visma Nmbrs is a tight-knit family full of hard-working, passionate, and dedicated professionals. We develop cutting-edge software that provides our customers with the efficiency and control they need to give their employees the best possible HR and payroll service.

About the job

As a DevOps at Visma Nmbrs, you’ll work to assure that Nmbrs product infrastructure is secure, stable, and performing accordingly with the SLAs.

We focus on solving problems whether we have an ownership or not. That can be a bug fix or a new workaround implementation to give squads space and time to come with an outstanding patch. Calling a code red or a black one and lead them through the impact time and assure that the root cause is clear and next steps posted.

Depending on your interests and skills, you may be more focused on tooling or platform work, as well as other initiatives that exist through special committees (security, performance, others). Boundaries are fluid since people can switch between squads as well.

Some ongoing projects in your future squad

Here are some examples of projects that we are currently working on, or it’s in our roadmap, so you can have an idea:

  • Developing Infrastructure-as-Code templates to deploy and to configure consistently and predictably resources in our Cloud platform.
  • Design the Runbook platform and implement the Runbook APIs needed to support both incident management and service desk processes and requests.
  • Investigating alternatives more efficient and reliable to scale up & down the majestic monolith.
  • Working closely with feature squads to integrate Identity Access and Management to protect the access to microservices resources.
  • Participate actively in current security audits and assessments.
  • Write a guideline about “How to manage app secrets on the Cloud” to which squads can apply.

A day at work

Every morning you start your day checking the monitors, logs, and the 24/7 channel and act on it.

Then you join the daily stand-up where you connect with your colleagues from the other locations, and you coordinate on the priorities and sprint goals. Your responsibilities will cover:

  • Set up, implement, maintain and provision our IT infrastructure and the delivery pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the other teams to apply and improve infrastructure guidelines and your squad members on solutions to new projects.
  • Review pull requests and open your own.
  • Ensure the infrastructure stays scalable and stable.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance and escalate appropriately.
  • You offer support for other squads for infrastructure-related issues
  • Contact with Cloud providers.

Requirements

We are looking for you if you own these hard skills:

  • University degree in Computer Science or a strong technical background
  • Proven experience of cloud, and databases, preferably based on several years of industry experience
  • Cloud-native landscape knowledge.
  • Coding experience preferable on Go, JavaScript, or C#.
  • Containers technologies.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • CI/CD Practices
  • Microsoft server environments
  • English Proficiency (we have people from everywhere in the world working with us!)

Nice to Have Skills

  • Microsoft certification AZ-103 or AZ-104: Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate
  • Experience in SQL Server
  • Knowledge of Networking (Routing, Firewalls, VPN, cache)
  • Security experience and possible certifications (CISSP, others)

And if these soft skills and personality checks apply to you:

  • Team player that actively likes to help his/her colleagues
  • Collaborative in decision-making
  • Thorough and a push through
  • Willing to start over, seeing setbacks as new opportunities
  • Built with a start-up mindset, hands-on and knowing how to get things done
  • Capable of working in a cross-functional environment
  • Currently living in or near Amsterdam or willing to relocate

Nmbrs is a company with a story of its own.
After starting out as a payroll administration office, we shifted focus towards becoming a SaaS company. We believe employees deserve the best possible HR service. By developing software that connects all the main users, companies ensure the best possible service to their employees. We currently supply for the Dutch and Swedish markets. Did you know that our customers manage more than a million payslips per month through Nmbrs?
