Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer

Helmond

Fulltime

Do you specialize in workplace safety? Is it your passion to make sure all activities are in line with the rules and restrictions? And do you love to achieve this in a People First way of working?

What will you do as a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer?

At Lightyear we consider Health, Safety and Environment as one of the key aspects throughout our operational activities. In this role, you’ll guide the operations team while you’re part of our Operation Circle. This will be done by setting, maintaining and reviewing a clear HSE standard throughout Lightyears operational activities to enable the success of other teams while taking into account the expectations of the stakeholders. By bringing along your vision regarding HSE, you inspire our people by rooting HSE awareness and convert this into defined and secured processes. What can a day look like you wonder?

After you arrive at Lightyear you make a quick scan if you see abnormalities concerning HSE topics that need immediate attention. If so, you take action to mitigate the observed issue. If everything is OK, you are happy to see that everything is under control and that your colleagues pay attention to HSE.

You focus on your presentation regarding 5S. You have scheduled a training for a group of new Lightyear employees and you will train them this morning. At the end of the morning you look back on a nice interactive training with nice results on the exercises you put in the 5S training and you received some good feedback to improve it for the next session because Lightyear keeps on growing.

After a good lunch you pay attention to the procedures and way of working regarding HSE inside Lightyear. You identified that in several areas improvements can be made and you have some ideas how to achieve this. You make appointments with several stakeholders to discuss your ideas and start to put the first improvements on paper. While you are busy with this a colleague is contacting you with a question regarding safety. You help with finding an answer to her question. At the end of the day you make some quick notes of topics that you want to discuss in the monthly HSE meeting and call it a day. As a HSE Officer, your job is focussed on but isn’t limited to:

  • Define the needs and design the structure accordingly for HSE within Lightyear
  • Making sure that all legal and automotive-related operations regarding Health, Safety and Environment in-and external regulations are being implemented throughout our processes and thus activities
  • Conducting risk assessments of workplace hazards etc in the process of risk management
  • Lead safety and 5S Training to remind our A-players of workplace safety procedures and HSE policies
  • Investigate incidents and developing corrective actions to prevent a recurrence
  • Making sure the operations team is streamlined with all HSE procedures and policies
  • Leader of an internal audit and Emergency Response Officers team
