An HR Industrial Placement is required to support the HR team at ourLuton site. The role will be involved in and support a variety of HR activities across employee relations, resourcing, reward and learning & development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support HR team in activities related to the implementation of the HR strategy, and functional support for activities such as salary reviews, performance management, talent management and employee relations.
  • Manage the new starter induction process for the Luton site.
  • Act as the Luton site Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) facilitator – arranging meetings and associated agenda, taking meeting minutes and leading elections for employee representatives.Take a lead role in supporting managers & employees with the activities associated with the annual appraisal cycle.
  • Develop a working understanding of the various HR functional activities.Gain competence in HR practises as assigned.
  • Gain competence in HR practises as assigned.
  • Gain an understanding of the organisation, the business products and services and how HR can support the business objectives.
  • Achieve and maintain professional credibility with internal customers.
  • Maintain excellent communication within the function and business contacts.
  • Develop competence in management of employee relation issues as assigned.
  • Work in virtual teams across the business on project work where appropriate.
  • Reporting to one of the HR Advisors, the HR Industrial Placement will play a full part in the HR team.
  • Working with, and supporting, all members of the HR team locally and cross business as required.

Role Requirements

  • You must be able to satisfy the necessary security clearance for the role applied for and meet a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.
  • Studying toward a Business related degree, particularly an HR qualification.
  • A keen interest in all aspects of Human Resource Management. Previous experience of working within an HR environment in highly desirable.
  • A proactive attitude with a desire to learn & develop.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Able to identify and solve routine problems.
  • Able to prioritise and organise work to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team or on their own, with minimal supervision.
  • Able to stay calm under pressure and manage a variety of different stakeholders.
  • A good working knowledge of the MS Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
