What will you do as IT Infrastructure Engineer at Lightyear?

The ambition of Lightyear requires information to flow efficiently throughout the company. More information almost always leads to better decisions. As an IT Infrastructure Engineer you will join a team that implements, maintains and automates various IT infrastructure components and services. Your job will include activities to implement and deploy new systems and components. You will have the opportunity to explore and learn new technologies and broaden your knowledge in various aspects of workplace management and IT service delivery.

An example of your day

"Start the day with checking and if needed addressing any reported issues reported which require your expert knowledge and experience. After that meet with stakeholders to better understand their needs and requirements. You will use this input to define the architecture for a new infrastructure project, together with a highly skilled and motivated team. In the afternoon work on sprint tasks and perform implementation and configuration work. End the day with taking some time looking into and learning about the latest innovations in relevant technology."

Your job will focus on further establishing the IT infrastructure and workplace services. And expert level management and maintenance of existing IT infrastructure and systems. What do we expect from a IT Infrastructure Engineer?

In order to succeed in the role as IT Infrastructure we are looking for someone with:

  • preferably a Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent but we are also open to other backgrounds
  • at least 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • a passion for IT and the motivation to keep innovating
  • knowledge of virtualization concepts (e.g KVM, QEMU, Hypervisors, PCIe pass-through)
  • knowledge of networking concepts (e.g DHCP, DNS, routing, VLAN, Software Defined Networking)
  • knowledge of identity and access management services (e.g Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, SSO)
  • knowledge of Linux server OSses
  • excellent skills in the English language are mandatory (verbal and written)

What do we consider as extra reasons to get to know you better?

  • knowledge of Keycloak
  • development / scripting skills (e.g Linux-/powershell, Python)
  • knowledge of databases
  • knowledge and experience with G-suite
  • knowledge of Openstack
  • relevant certification in IT infrastructure systems and methodologies (scrum)
  • knowledge and affinity IoT f.e with regards to our Telematics backend
