As an Intern Reverse Engineering you’ll be responsible for the reverse engineering of LED lighting products from many different competitors. Gain knowledge on product architectures and technology from opening LED lamps and luminaires. Analyze the electrical, optical, and mechanical design and link these insights to Signify’s key patents. If you have always been curious on how products look like and work on the inside, then this just the right internship for you!

Signify Intellectual Property is a leading industrial IP organization providing world class IP solutions to Signify’s businesses to support their growth, competitiveness, and profitability. You will be become part of our international community of IP professionals with wide-ranging technical backgrounds and IP experience.

We’re on the lookout for forward-thinking innovators with a passion for sustainability. If you match this description, get in touch!

What you’ll do

  • You'll do PCBA analysis: Reconstructing an understandable power circuit/schematic from a finished PCBA.
  • You'll perform electrical, mechanical, and optical analyses and measurements on finished LED products. Then link those insights and results to the key patents to determine patent infringement.
  • You'll document your results in technical RE reports.

Next to the above activities:

  • You’ll be actively participating in our virtual intern network where you’ll be working on business cases, personal development and building your internal network.

Your qualifications

  • You're a Bachelor student (2nd year) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, looking for an internship of 4-6 months.
  • You've a passion for electronics and for investigating how products look and work on the inside. Your home is full of smart lighting and connectable smart devices.
  • You've knowledge of electronic components and circuits, and preferably of power electronics, ideally (lighting) drivers, optics, or LEDs. User experience with smart lighting products or connectable smart devices will help you to be successful in this internship.
  • You've workshop practice and measurement experience, as is knowledge or affinity with patents (would be a plus)
  • You've good English skills, both in writing as well as orally.

This internship opportunity does not support a thesis project, but it will offer you a vast amount of knowledge on different kinds of lighting products!

What you’ll get in return…

  • Internship allowance; the exact amount depends on your situation (also towards rented accommodation or public transportation)
  • Paid leave on the basis of 1 day per month
  • Extensive set of tools to drive your career, such as a personalized learning platform
  • Opportunity to purchase products in the staff shop (MyShop) at reduced prices

We’re offering multiple opportunities for career development, like mentoring, coaching and stretch assignments, with strong international exposure for dynamic profiles. Learning is fundamental to our culture. Through continuous learning, we are transforming the industry. You have the chance to learn every day, acquire new skills and perspectives through customized online programs, and on-the-job experiences.
