We have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Packaging Improvement Engineer at our Boxmeer location

Purpose of the role

The primary purpose of the position is to identify, lead and support initiatives to improve the packaging processes with respect to packaging material, equipment, processes and serialisation/aggregation. You will support the Improvement Lead with portfolio management and is a bridge between Lean Six Sigma- and technical projects. In order to implement changes effectively the Packaging Specialist applies Lean & Six Sigma methods, Project Management and Change Management techniques. You will report to the Improvement Lead of IPT Packaging.

The production facilities in Boxmeer are part of the global Animal Health production network and manufacture and package animal health products according to GMP standards. We are working according to the Production System (MPS), which is based on Lean Six Sigma and inclusion principles. The production organization in Boxmeer consists of several Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) and Centres of Excellence (CoEs). 

The IPT Packaging of the site Boxmeer is responsible for secondary packaging of vaccines and pharmaceuticals. The IPT Packaging also serves as a serialisation/aggregation hub within the network.  

Primary responsibilities

  • Initiating, executing and coordinating projects on IPT level by proposing improvements and standardization
  • Coordinating investment projects (new packaging line or related equipment)
  • Designing, developing and testing secondary packaging components 
  • Supporting Improvement Lead with portfolio management for the IPT
  • Training and coaching IPT personnel on use of equipment/materials
  • Creating and revising packaging component specifications if required, together with coordinating the change of documentation according to Change Control procedure 
  • Hands-on support to the business with problem solving techniques and facilitating root cause analysis or cross-functional investigations
  • Contributing to a data driven decision making process and visualising problems, progress and results
  • Utilizing tracking and reporting systems for analytical purposes, preparing plans and updating metrics, driving performance and assuring timely completion of improvements and goals

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; 
  • Relevant work experience as Packaging Engineer or Specialist in a continuous improvement environment
  • Preferably certified Lean Six Sigma Green/Black belt
  • Strong project management and change management skills; 
  • Experience with portfolio management
  • Knowledge of Process Technology 
  • Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English (verbal and written) are essential to lead projects successfully
