About us

BikeFair enables every single person on the planet to trade, own and love a bicycle by removing all physical, psychological, informational, and financial barriers. By creating a platform of trust, digitizing the industry, and providing tangible support for the community and all industry players we are making cycling the most accessible way of transportation and a healthy and fun hobby.

We’re an early-stage start-up with global ambitions, generating revenues and beating first significant milestones (over 1000 bikes sold in the past year), aiming to conquer the Dutch market and begin international expansion. We’ve recently closed early-stage funding and are building the team that’ll drive our immediate growth as well as long-term success.

Team ethics

We believe in hard work and ownership. We look for the most talented but are well aware that talent is nothing if not supported by hard work: no one ever won a bike race without streaking the pedals! Similarly, talent can hardly thrive if closeted in a small sealed black box. We love to have fun (duh!) even in work and look forward to spending time working with our friends, even more so knowing it makes sense not only for us, but for the whole world. Being a young start-up enables us to provide a lot of freedom but be ready for the expectations to be equally high. After all, as one team we share the success as well as failure. And we intend to win!

Responsibilities

You will be the ensuring our “sell-side” pipeline is constantly widening and that bike offering on BikeFair is seemingly endlessly growing. More specifically, you will be:

  • Expanding the network of partnering shops and sellers in the north of the Netherlands (Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel, Flevoland) – from finding potential partners through managing the regional sales pipeline to onboarding newly acquired partners,
  • Managing relationships within your partner network – assisting the partners in using BikeFair and increasing their engagement,
  • Creating sales materials, mediating disputes, introducing new features,
  • Collecting insights and filling innovation pipeline for our dev team,
  • Potentially leading a small team of sales representatives.

Why should you consider

  • Dynamic, ambitious team with a purpose-driven mindset: you’ll directly and measurably contribute to the world’s sustainable future.
  • Ownership of your work in all senses of the word: you will get a share in the company via our stock options plan and will be able to see your specific role in the company’s development.
  • Unusual professional freedom and space to implement your own ideas and initiatives.
  • Learning and development contribution,
  • Regular team fun activities (weekly beers, team rides & dinners, more ideas on this front welcome!).
  • And, of course, a bike for personal use. 🚲

About you

As per your character:

  • You’re a natural leader,
  • You are a competitive, seemingly tireless winner.
  • You’re the master of word and enjoy talking to people,
  • You’re outgoing yet structured: able to keep track of communication, goals and results.
  • You are self-driven and able to prioritize – you don’t often require to be told what to do, yet are able to deliver and ask for advice or help if needed,
  • You are able to manage your time – we do not count hours worked and don’t necessarily distinguish a Tuesday from a Sunday, as long as you own your responsibilities.
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment or even uncertainty, enjoy travelling and are able to work on the go.

Regarding your skills and experience, you:

  • Understand trends in technology and are able to grasp the basic terminology,
  • Have 2+ years experience in sales, ideally within a startup environment (proactive fast-learning personality can compensate for that, though).
  • Have a driver’s licence category B (automobiles),
  • Are fluent in both Dutch and English,
  • Live in the north of the Netherlands in general,
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is a plus,
  • Bonus points for advanced photo skills!

As a bike start-up, we also seek:

  • ‘MacGyver mindset’ – what can YOU do with only a paperclip?
  • The discipline of Captain America – are you able to master your own will?
  • The inner motivation of Nikola Tesla – there’s more to life than piling cash. What gets you up from the bed every day?
  • Unhealthy affection for bikes – owning three or more bikes is a must!
  • Slightly weird sense of humour. The line above is a joke, of course. Well, partly... :)

Diversity

We are believers in meritocracy: we make no differences in regard to your age, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. What matters is your motivation, conduct, and – main of all – concrete results of your actions. We also recognize that the starting lines of every human being differ. We welcome applications from underserved and underrepresented communities. You will win us over by sharing your interesting life story and pinpointing self-driven tangible progress in it.
