WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

In the past years, the number of satellites that are yearly launched is growing exponentially. Only in 2020 (as of 2 December 2020), 955 satellites have been launched compared to 386 of the previous year.

When applied with optimal techniques, radar can provide a wealth of information on the observed object. In this project we explore new methods for image and classify outer space objects, with focus on LEO satellites.

You will perform this assignment in the Department of Radar Technology. The department is at the heart of novel, game-changing radar system and signal processing concepts for the military, space and civil domains.

The activities for this internship range from algorithm optimization to study new methods imaging and classification with radar data.

WHAT DO WE REQUIRE OF YOU?

You are in the final stages of your bachelor’s or master’s degree in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a similar degree and you have a track record in the field of signal processing. You have experience in programming in Matlab or Phython, you are pragmatic and focused on making things work. Knowledge of space dynamics is a plus. Next to technical expertise we value communication skills and a results-driven attitude.
