As a Senior UI Designer at adidas you are responsible for creating high quality interface designs and for driving the continuous improvement of mobile and web sites/applications. Managing both internal and external designers this role will be a lead function when it comes to user interfaces within DBC. You and your team will work closely with Brand Design, Experience Design specialists and Product teams to drive a best-in-class user experience on tablet and mobile platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Interface Design
- Lead the creation of user interfaces on all devices based on input from the Experience Design team and from the consumer.
- Lead the design and implementation of new templates for sites in web and mobile.
- Ensure that validated UI standards are documented using GDEG (Global Digital Experience Guidelines).
- Establish a consistent design language across our digital platforms that the design community in DBC will adhere to.
- Ensure UI Designers work in close collaboration with Experience Designers in providing an outstanding experience for the consumer.
Interface Implementation & Optimization
- Lead the identification of design opportunities to improve usability and online.
- Manage the user interface backlog for adidas ensuring that the UI standards are reflected in digital products.
- Lead the testing and validation of UI designs prior to release, ensuring that UI and business requirements are met.
UI Innovation
- Extract design, digital and ecommerce trends. Qualify and apply findings to experience design concepts in order to maximize the value for the consumer and for the company.
- Contribute to the Experience Design community, sharing knowledge and best practices.
UI Consulting
- Act as an ambassador for UI design and User Centric Thinking within the organization.
- Consult major DBC stakeholders on UI topics. Define respective digital solutions.
- Conduct UI reviews. Provide advice on UI and usability topics.
- Provide hands-on UI support on concept direction considering overarching best practices.

User Interface Development
- Contribute and own the native apps design language to ensure style standards will be adhered to.
- Lead the collaboration with UX and UI designers to visualize complex concepts in the form of working interactive prototypes for user testing or A/B testing purposes.
- Contribute to the development of the UX/UI designers’ front-end skills.
- Be the key contact for front-end design topics within large projects/ agile teams.
People Management
- Create a supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained and provided with career opportunities through development.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of data and team feedback and make appropriate changes in order to meet business needs.
- Provide team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and DBC objectives.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree with focus on Digital Design, IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of experience working in a digital and/or eCommerce environment
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates your attention to details
- Experience in working with brands
- Used to designing with style guides
- 2+ years of experience in leading a team
Soft-Skills
- Very good communication skills, comfortable presenting complex topics to stakeholders at various organizational levels both in person and remotely
- Ability sell your designs and explain your decisions
- Consistency across designs while maintaining a creative approach
- Creative and energetic team player who has a passion for user-centered design
Hard-Skills
- Expert knowledge of designing for native app platforms (iOS and Android)
- In-depth understanding of the native apps environment, GUI (screen layouts and composition) and style guide applications
- Experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch and Figma
- Fluent English both verbally and written
