Internship Private Equity - Rotterdam Port Fund

The Rotterdam Port Fund (RPF) is an independent private equity fund which invests in innovative, fast growing companies in the maritime sector that contribute to creating the port of the future. With a focus on the Benelux and Germany, RPF seeks to invest in companies active in areas such as Sustainability & Circularity, IT & Digitization, and Safety in port sectors such as Transportation & Logistics, Energy & Refinery and Offshore & Maritime.

RPF supports management teams in their capital needs to accelerate growth and create long term economic value. While an attractive market outlook and strong (potential) returns have the highest priority, the opportunity to contribute to a positive, social and sustainable change of the port sector also ranks highly.

Founded in 2016, RPF is an initiative of the Port of Rotterdam, NIBC bank, InnovationQuarter and Koninlijke Doeksen, in cooperation with Rotterdam entrepreneurs Peter Goedvolk and Luc Braams. To date, RPF has made 8 investments and is seeking to at add several more in the next couple of years.

As intern / analyst of the Rotterdam Port Fund you will be actively involved from day one in the divers daily activities including identification and judging investment propositions, the investment process and management of the portfolio companies. As a team member you will :

  • Analyze business plans and investment propositions
  • Execute market analysis
  • Assist with financial analysis / valuations
  • Draft company profiles and investment memo's
  • Support with portfolio management task like attending meetings with management and provide hands-on assistance on a wide variety of matters

We are looking for candidates with an affiliation with finance and investments (preferably a finance, accounting/controlling or technical background) in the final phase of their study (Master level) or recently graduated. The ideal candidate:

  • Has strong analytical capacity
  • Combines ambition with sense of responsibility
  • Is a good communicator with strong social skills, both within the team as well as externally
  • Can set his/her own priorities
  • Has a strong commend of Dutch and English language (primary language used is Dutch)
  • Has experience with financial modelling and crafting presentations

The internship will comprise c. a 4 month period, and will be part-time (3 days/week), providing students the possibility to combine the internship with their course or thesis work. The start date of the internship is flexible. A market conform remuneration will be provided.
