Introduction

As an immunology application development scientist, you will be responsible for the development of novel z-Movi cell-cytometry applications. You will establish and perform groundbreaking experiments at LUMICKS as well as in collaboration with the company’s strategic partners.

You will take ownership of the development of the z-Movi technology within the framework of immunology and immune-oncology assay development. Additionally, you will assist PI’s and industry leaders in current applications of z-Movi technology. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of new strategic technological partnerships in academia and industry to improve the z-Movi cell cytometry application. The ideal candidate will connect easily with PhD and PI level researchers in fields such as biology and immunology and demonstrate a clear understanding of their technical and application needs.

What are my tasks & responsibilities?

  • Act as the immunologist sounding board and knowledge base for the R&D team.
  • Design novel and adapt existing assays to explore the biology and mechanisms of T cell adhesion and tumor recognition using the z-Movi platform.
  • Write detailed protocols and user manuals for system handling.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of data analysis and results documentation.
  • Establish and execute assays to test the performance of the z-Movi system as it develops.
  • Determine testing procedures for quantify the z-Movi technology in coordination with the rest of R&D.
  • Design and execute experiments to assess the biological relevance/significance of z-Movi data.
  • Explore, develop and optimize the z-Movi technology in combination with cell sorting techniques.
  • Conduct, troubleshoot, and design experiments that drive decision making, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues to reach desired goals.
  • Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners.
  • Optimize cell culture protocols of target and effector cell sets in the z-Movi microfluidics system.
  • Collaborate with external parties to establish z-Movi as a novel technology in immunology and immunotherapy screening.

What about my skills & competencies?

  • PhD degree in Immunology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology.
  • Solid and broad foundation in quantitative experimental biology.
  • Experience in quantitative assay development.
  • Ability to handle microfluidic systems and complex instrumentation.
  • Experience working with prototype level hardware and instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of surface chemistry and surface preparation for analytical assays.
  • Prior hands-on experience with biophysical measurements (FACS, SPR, etc.).
  • Experience with enzymatic assays and cell culture.
  • Experience in quantitative image analysis of cells.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional time management.
  • Excels in planning.

De technologie van LUMICKS maakt het mogelijk om voor het eerst de interacties "live" te filmen tussen DNA en andere moleculen , wat al vruchten heeft afgeworpen in onderzoek naar het ontstaan van borstkanker bij vrouwen die hier genetisch aanleg voor hebben (het RAD51 gen).

Het LUMICKS team houdt kantoor aan de VU in Amsterdam, bestaat uit 18 mensen uit verschillende landen en er heerst een dynamische en flexibele werksfeer.
