Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding Building Services team in our Dublin Office, Ireland.

About AECOM:

AECOM Ireland is a multidisciplinary team with over 600 staff covering Building (MEP, Civil and Structural) Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Transportation, Water, Energy & Environmental consultancy. The Building Engineering team has a large team of engineers working on high profile commercial, aviation, infrastructure, education, health, residential and mission critical projects across Ireland and abroad.

About the role:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and support mid – large projects from concept through to handover. This role will suit someone with a mechanical engineering / building services degree, who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and looking to advance their career. The successful candidate will ideally be chartered or working towards chartered status

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents through the RIBA / project stages.
  • Manage the mechanical design delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
  • Attend project and Client meetings on behalf of AECOM.
  • Prepare planning, design and feasibility reports.
  • Ensure that project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.
  • Understand and implement AECOM’s Quality Management Policy, including performing QA checks on projects.
  • Be familiar with BIM standards and BIM project delivery.
  • Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub contractors and other design team members.
  • Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients.
  • Develop and mentor junior / graduate members of staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Mechanical Engineer or Building Services Engineer.
  • A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example, Commercial, Education and Residential projects.
  • Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.
  • A track record of having delivered low energy, sustainable designs.
  • Excellent knowledge of Part L of the Building Regulations, including Part L compliance calculations.
  • Proficiency in IES / Hevacomp and working knowledge of REVIT / CAD is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
  • Excellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients essential.
  • A highly motivated individual with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Working towards or achieved a professional chartered status.
  • Be familiar with Irish Building Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally a graduate in Mechanical, building services or relevant discipline.
  • Proven track record in the Irish building services industry.
  • Chartered or with qualifications to become chartered.
