Graduate Process Safety Engineers

Technical Safety & Environmental Engineering

The Technical Safety and Environmental Engineering (TSE) Group at KBR is committed to ensuring that engineering solutions provided to our customers have the highest possible levels of safety and the lowest possible environmental impact. Projects cover Front End Engineering (Conceptual Design and FEED) as well as detailed engineering on a wide variety of facilities located both offshore and onshore. As a Gold Corporate Partner of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and accredited by other engineering institutions we are formally recognised as a company that provides excellent support to young engineers through their early career development, leading to Chartered Engineer status.

At the heart of projects

Our engineers work on and contribute to a wide range of projects, from onshore to offshore plant design. Safety and Environmental Engineers are key to the success of any project, because ensuring the safety of the people who live and work on the facilities that we design is a key focus.

Safety Engineers carry out a wide range of hazard identification and evaluation activities, as well as designing safety and protection systems. There is a high degree of interaction with other engineering disciplines because safety influences many aspects of the design – there are always opportunities to work with, and learn from, experienced engineers in other disciplines.

The TSE Group at KBR has extensive experience in both Front End Engineering (FEED) and Detailed Design / EPC Projects and embodies a culture of innovation in improving safety on facilities where there is a significant challenge in handling hydrocarbons under extremely high pressures and often in challenging environments. The group also includes expertise in specialist areas of expertise such as noise, working environment and human factors.

Opportunities within TSE Engineering

Our Engineers range from recent University masters level graduates through to consultants with many years’ experience, covering onshore and offshore oil & gas processing, LNG, offsites and utilities, refining and petrochemicals.

We challenge our engineers on our projects in responsible roles and help them develop leadership skills as soon as they are ready to do so.

Many of our senior engineers are Corporate Members of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (or an equivalent institution) and Chartered Engineers (CEng).

We actively encourage and support our graduate engineers in gaining corporate membership, and operate an Approved Company Training Scheme (ACTS) for our graduates.

Many of our engineers have gained experience in overseas locations, including on-site in countries such as Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Azerbaijan and Australia, where they have played a key role in detailed engineering design and construction activities as well as commissioning-support and related activities.
