Our mission at Vattenfall is to enable fossil free living within one generation. At Vattenfall we operate 1000+ Wind Turbine Generators and our fleet is growing. We’re going to build the biggest offshore wind farm of the world. At data analytics we have access to large amounts of data and facilitate data driven decisions. Are you able to help us in getting the most out of our data?

Your assignment

As intern data analysis you will be part of the Data analytics and asset integrity management team that is responsible for enabling data driven decision making. The data analytics team consists of code developers, a scrum master, a project manager and vibration analysis (CMS) experts.

Your focus will be on developing a model for calculating the Lost Production Factor timeseries of wind turbines. The Lost Production Factor explains the percentage of energy not produced by a wind turbine, for example because of failures at the wind turbine.

The following tasks will be part of your assignment:

  • reading the existing standards on this topic
  • interpreting the standard to be able to apply it to our data
  • presenting your proposed methodology as pseudo code and in flow diagrams
  • writing well documented code

Who are you?

  • Master Student in Sustainable Energy Technologies, Engineering, IT, Applied Mathematics, or similar;
  • Python developer, used to work with the pandas package
  • You also know how to use Git and optionally SQL
  • Experienced in wind energy, you know what lost production factor is
  • A team player who likes to contribute to a team success 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Agile worker, you like to share intermediate results
  • You have a ‘Google first ask later’ mentality
