Law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek is looking for a Senior Learning and Development Adviser to help our firm excel in its ambitions.

About the role

As a Senior Learning and Development Adviser you are part of the HR department (30FTE in total), within the team of People Development and Culture (currently 5 FTE). The team is responsible for all existing and future L&D programmes within the firm. De Brauw is an accredited educational institute for the Netherlands Bar Education which enables us to provide all legal courses in-house. Furthermore, we offer a wide variety of skills training to all of our colleagues, including our lawyers. The team is also responsible for change projects with respect to the firm’s culture, such as Diversity and Inclusion and more generally empowering a sustainable workforce. The team is closely connected to the legal business, is ambitious and eager to deliver qualitative and innovative solutions that stimulate the development of all our talents.

Who are you?

In this role, you translate our firm’s strategy into a clear vision on learning opportunities for colleagues within the firm that provide competitive advantage. You act as a trusted learning advisor with an outside-in view and are able to translate new business developments into L&D initiatives. You understand the legal business and the (future) challenges of our lawyers. You proactively maintain contact with all of your stakeholders within the firm including partners and department heads, and with other teams within our firm. You identify bottlenecks in existing processes and procedures in the broader context of the organization. You are passionate about change and challenge the status quo of things in a sophisticated manner. Besides this, you participate in projects for the development of new policies and tooling like our learning management system.

We are looking for someone with:

  • an academic degree, preferably in the field of (organisational) psychology, human resources, educational sciences or legal;
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Learning & Development;
  • excellent writing and communication skills in both Dutch and English;
  • a proactive and data driven approach;
  • exceptional stakeholder management skills;
  • excellent negotiation skills;
