As a Benelux trainee, you will join a 2,5 year program, in which you will be fulfilling 2 or 3 challenging assignments in different departments within Philips. The traineeship focuses on ‘learning on the job’ and learning from each other. As a Benelux trainee, you are in the driver seat to determine your 2nd and 3rd assignment. Whether you want to work at corporate level, in a factory or anywhere else in between. In a commercial role, a technical role or a role in one of the supporting functions. You are responsible for

We have several assignments (location Amsterdam or Eindhoven) available and within the finance management trainee positions, each assignment has a specific focus.

  • Department Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), strategy finance: the global deal team of Philips M&A is comprised of 20 specialists located in Amsterdam, Andover (USA) and Shanghai (China). You will be joining the Amsterdam team composed of 8 people. The deal team is responsible for the entire execution process of different types of deals (buy-side and sell-side, joint ventures, large, midsize and smaller deals). During this assignment you will assist the M&A deal execution process from start to finish, including valuation and financial analyses (DCF and multiples), assisting/ managing due diligence processes, project management, drafting of process materials. You will prepare presentations for the executive board, with and alongside people from Philips’ business groups and markets; performing company research and industry bench marking using various databases (e.g. Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, Pitchbook)
  • Department market Africa – finance: in the role of trainee market Africa you will pro-actively support our Africa market for the HealthSystems Business. You will be part of a talented experienced finance team, and together working on further improving the business of this key market. You will be a part of an international team, working with sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, and business management. During this assignment you will improve the customer service business (growth and profitability); focus on finance analytics, process flows, SAP/system analytics and business discussions and projects. You will support the business managers on P&L management and will be part of several improvement projects on reporting & analytics, margin management (quoting, actuals); support the team in day to day finance tasks (reporting, SAP, analytics, deep dives)

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Recently graduated or will graduate latest September 2020 with a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or Econometric
  • Max 1 years of work experience straight after your graduation
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, so you can persuade colleagues at all ranks in the organization
  • International experience or an international mindset
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, eager and ambitious
  • Speak and write fluent English
  • Modelling experience in Excel and neat PowerPoint skills

Recruitment process

  • In week 14 you will be informed whether you passed the pre-selection round and will be invited to join the Selection Day on 23rd of April where an online test is part of the exercises.
  • If you belong to the best performers, you will be invited for the final assessment center, which will take place on the 18th of May in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. During the event, you will spend 1 day with similar minded graduates, working on a range of highly challenging exercises (e.g additional online test) in a number of business-related scenarios. This is the final step in the traineeship selection process. In the same week, we will inform you with the outcome.
