As a Benelux trainee you will join a 2,5 year program, in which you will be fulfilling 2 or 3 challenging assignments in different departments within Philips. The traineeship focuses on ‘learning on the job’ and learning from each other. As a Benelux trainee, you are in the driver seat to determine your 2nd and 3rd assignment. Whether you want to work at corporate level, in a factory or anywhere else in between. In a commercial role, a technical role or a role in one of the supporting functions. Whether you want to work towards becoming a specialist or a generalist. Whether you want to work in the field of complex medical devices, connected care or personal health; you get the opportunity to explore, contribute, learn and receive support while doing so.

You are responsible for

We have several assignments (location Best and Eindhoven) available and within the Data Science engineering trainee positions, each assignment has a specific focus:

  • Beauty Innovation Team, function development: Contribute to ongoing innovation projects as a function developer. Contribute to the Trainee Peer Group activities at ISE.
  • Innovation and NBX: Setting a product/assets roadmap aligned with Business Data Strategy, data stewardship, i.e. responsible for unlocking data through internal stakeholder alignment and customer engagement. Experiment with data-enabled VPC/product improvements
  • Mother & Child Care / Venture & Solutions: Affinity with digital innovations like Internet of Things, Cloud Solutions, App development, data analysis; Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and how to apply them in our domain in combination with our products or stand-alone; Translating of consumer insights and benefits into product functions and features; Generate and rank options to fulfill the product function in the best possible way collaboration with different teams in Philips: Philips Research, Philips HQ, Philips IT, Philips Health Suite Digital Platform; Verify and validate functions by building and testing prototypes and translating this to solutions; Have the drive and hands-on mindset to experiment and “hack” prototypes in order to prove assumptions made.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Recently graduated or will graduate latest September 2020 with a Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology,
  • Max 1 years of work experience straight after your graduation
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, so you can persuade colleagues at all ranks in the organization
  • International experience or an international mindset
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, eager and ambitious
  • Speak and write fluent English
  • Knowledge of Internet of Things; AI, ML.
  • Digital minded, have a drive for “hacking” new solutions, just do it mentality to prove feasibility for new ideas;

As a trainee you will receive a contract for the period of 2.5 years, with excellent labor conditions.

Recruitment process

When you are interested to join the Philips’ traineeship, please apply online latest 29th of March 2020, applications that come in after this deadline can not be taken into account.

  • Upload your CV and/or motivation
  • In week 14 you will be informed whether you passed the pre-selection round and will be invited to join the Selection Day on 16th of April where an online test is part of the exercises.
  • If you belong to the best performers, you will be invited for the final assessment center, which will take place on the 11th of May in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. During the event, you will spend 1 day with similar minded graduates, working on a range of highly challenging exercises (e.g additional online test) in a number of business-related scenarios. This is the final step in the traineeship selection process. In the same week, we will inform you with the outcome.

Your physical presence during the Selection Days and the final Business Challenge Event is required.

When you successfully complete the selection process, you are able to start between the 1st of September 2020 and 1st of December 2020 in your first assignment which is especially created for this program.
