To provide this global connectivity we are in search of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who will be in charge of day to day operations both in ground and space segment and be the dedicated first responder that will keep our system healthy and reliable. You will be helping with validation of system elements, supporting satellite mission phases and coordinating scheduling and operations.

Your day to day is usually focussed on proactively monitoring our end-to-end system performance, but you are encouraged to contribute where you can in automating. You will be a great fit if you feel at home with both handling on-call support as well as writing the tools to automate operations. A summary of responsibilities that come with the job are:

  • Automating what you can, documenting what you can’t and having the wisdom to know the difference.

What we have for you

  • A state of the art, satellite IoT telecommunication system,
  • Many backend applications to work on: customer data API’s, satellite pass scheduling system, our mission and network control center and many more,
  • A team of true experienced professionals with many disciplines and even more big brains to work with,
  • An open engineering culture where you both build and design the technology,
  • Flexible hours, work-from-home options and we also don't micromanage your vacation days,
  • Being part of a groundbreaking innovation with 21st century tech pioneers,
  • Head office on the canals @ Keizersgracht and the technical office in Delft near the TU Delft Campus ground.

Requirements

You have

  • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or equivalent,
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience,
  • experience and a strong interest in automating infrastructure and monitoring,
  • experience in system administration and reliability engineering,
  • experience working on Linux systems,
  • mastery of at least one programming language (Python is a plus),
  • a security mindset,
  • The people skills required to work with engineers, project managers and customer support agents,
  • Fluency in spoken and written English,
  • Motivation and drive. You volunteer for new challenges without waiting to be asked.

To land this gig you will need to be comfortable designing big parts of our core system with a very small team. As such it helps if you can show that you have worked on one or more other subjects like software engineering, electrical engineering, frontend engineering, etc. Internships, side projects and university teams all count. Just make sure we can pick up on some of that stuff in your cover letter (video works too) or resume.

About

Hiber is an eclectic team of like-minded, big-hearted and seriously motivated guys and girls who want to change the world, for good. Pushing the boundaries is what drives us. We love tech. More importantly, we love what we know it can do to make everyone’s life better. And it is that human touch, that desire to improve everything, that sets us all apart and gives us a real buzz. We think of ourselves as 21st century tech pioneers. Exploring new possibilities every day. Doing what no one ever dared to do before. And succeeding. For us, tech isn’t a new app, game or social media fad. It’s a chance to make a real difference, long-term. Not a quick buck short-term.

To date, we hang out in offices in Amsterdam and Delft (home of a big tech university) in the Netherlands. But with more and more, open-minded thinkers and doers wanting to join us, who knows where’s next. For the space junkies amongst you, we launched our satellites with PSLV in India and SpaceX from Cape Canaveral.
