Description

As a designer, you will be developing innovative, high taste level, high quality, market driven designs & collections and maximizing on turnover potential thru in-season injection styles for relevant product categories in accordance with the brand DNA of O’Neill.

Key accountabilities

Develops collections for the Kids product categories required by the development schedule of O’Neill, such that:

  • They are based on the latest trend and market research and market performance analysis;
  • They are aligned with the divisional lineplan;
  • They are aligned with the brand’s creative and commercial strategy for the relevant product unit.

Works closely with other designers, buyers, and technicians of the relevant product, such that:

  • All the necessary steps that lead to the samples in the various stages of the critical path are completed, including daily communication with vendors & buying offices on issues/changes that arise from the development of the collections;
  • The creative development process is going smoothly;
  • The market pricing, target margins, production lead times, production capacities, minima and supplier allocation for sampling and production is set;
  • The correct fit for the developed styles is ensured, and optimized according to Childsafety regulations together with the Technician and Buyer;
  • Fabrics and prints are developed to high quality standard;
  • The O’Neill brand DNA is recognized in the designs;
  • All proto-/bulk- and production samples are optimized.

Sets up and maintains a high standard in design sheets and bill of materials (BOM) concerning creative information in a product database system, such that:

  • External contacts with suppliers and agencies are maintained;
  • The internal work structure and workflow is optimized.

Prepares and helps to setup various product meetings for relevant product categories, such that:

  • All relevant stakeholders are well informed about the process and designs.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Educational level: Bachelor or similar in preferably in textiles/apparel
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in Apparel and/or Sportswear industry; a proven design track record
  • Experience working in Childrenswear; or strong motivation towards working in Childrenswear
  • Ability to translate trends and consumer insights into a commercial collection
  • Solid knowledge of garment specifications
  • Eye for details
  • Capable of working in a dynamic environment
  • Open communicator
  • Advanced user of Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, MS Office and the product database system
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Willingness to live in The Netherlands
