This position provides an excellent opportunity to those candidates who are looking to not only solidify their controlling skills, but also to prepare themselves for the next career step into more senior finance opportunities. This role reports directly into the Finance Manager of the group and sits on a team of 30 professionals in total. This team is part of a larger Finance team existing of more than 70 finance professional, working from our Finance hub in the Schiphol location, covering all of the EMEA region.

In this role, you will be the trusted partner and the finance tag for the Oils & Seeds business. Located in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, our processing facilities refine and blend oils to improve our customers product flavors and texture for snacks, margarines, pastries, chocolates and other food applications.

You will work closely together with the financial controllers for Belgium and the Netherlands ( based in Schiphol), with the commercial and supply chain teams (based in Schiphol and Hamburg) and align with the plant controllers in our plant in Hamburg. You will serve as the main link between different sources of information and the relevant business partners, providing them with a rigorous, analytical financial statement review performed at each business/country level. Continuous improvement of management reporting processes and providing insights will be essential in the role.

Major Tasks

  • Act as a business partner towards sales, commercial, product managers and supply chain with regards to actuals, budget and forecast;
  • Partner to develop analysis that leads to actionable insights which improve business decision making;
  • Assist in the yearly budget and monthly forecast preparation;
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement finance projects;
  • Accountable for the outcomes of all accounting and financial reporting activities. Supported in a virtual Cargill’s Shared Service Center (SSC) team, who is preparing the financial data (all accounting activities performed out of in SSC Sofia);
  • Provide quarterly the Financial Statement review to the Corporation (Head quarter in Minneapolis);
  • Monitor relevance and accuracy of the different sources of information;
  • Partner with other Finance and Data & Technology teams to best match business requirement with analytical solution;
  • Act as a first line of defence within Cargill’s control framework;
  • Move up the curve from reporting to dashboards (self-service) to streamlined data with advanced analytic tools.


  • Master’s Degree in Finance or Accounting with 3-5 years accounting experience;
  • Minimum 3 years of Financial Control experience and confirmed experience with local and US GAAP reporting;
  • Understanding and experience working with JDE or SAP and proven experience with new BI tools, such as Power BI;
  • Shown ability to understand key business drivers and how to translate these into significant reporting;
  • Confirmed ability to operate in a culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and intellectual curiosity;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills ;
  • Demonstrated change agility ;
  • Skilled at using financial and business systems to monitor business activities and aid in decision making. Maintains working knowledge of data systems and applications;
  • Ability to travel up to 10%;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
