Primarily your task is to assist the responsible traders and senior commercial staff in logistical, administrative, quality related and commercial tasks, whereby it is the expectancy that within time you will develop to a level at which you are entrusted to execute a commercial role independently. Your high energy, drive, creativity and outstanding communication skills will be prevailing to further develop the business to achieve continued growth of the business. The Junior Trader will work at our “CSO desk”, which consists of the categories Sugars, Cocoa and Coconut derivatives (especially sugar and oil). The Junior Trader reports to the Business Unit Manager.

Your job tasks, responsibilities and objectives

  • Execute general administrative and logistical support tasks
  • Ensure optimal customer satisfaction
  • Assist in contract management
  • Stay in contact with the Accounts Receivables department for assessment of customer payment risks
  • Responsible for handling product complaints from customers
  • Get acquainted and keep track of international market developments
  • Assist in assessing currency risks and positions
  • Keep track of the results and suggests correction action plans
  • Ensure suppliers meet vendor approval criteria in alignment with the Quality Assurance Manager
  • Visit trade related fairs
  • Order processing to logistics – supply chain
  • Sample processing and follow up
  • Support our international sales offices

For this challenging role, we have the following requirements / the right candidate has:

  • Minimum: Bachelor degree in commerce/international trade, Agricultural diploma is a big plus
  • Affinity with ingredients or agricultural commodities
  • Proven communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Effective commercial and (contract) negotiation skills
  • Experience in an import/export environment and successful customer service experience
  • Awareness of relevant prevailing quality and food safety regulations
  • Ability to solve challenging problems
  • Being able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with minimal direction
  • Accuracy and ability to perform in a challenging environment (stress resistance)
  • Proficiency in the Dutch & English language (in writing and verbally) is a must; command of the German and Spanish language are a plus
  • An “international” mindset, result driven, attention to detail and a team player
  • Willingness to travel, also internationally
  • IT affinity: advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with ERP systems (working knowledge of Axapta is a plus) and the organic industry are a plus
