Medtronic Cardio Vascular Group (CVG) provides interventional devices to treat coronary arteries that are blocked by atherosclerotic plaque and devices and therapies to treat structural defects of the heart.

We are currently looking for a Sr. Buyer / Strategic Operations Specialist (SOS) in our Cardiac Surgery organization to work in our Kerkrade, Netherlands site, also leading procurement activities for our Fourmies, France, site.

In this role the Buyer will Serve as the Sourcing liaison with Site Operations, Planning, Quality and Finance organizations ensuring availability of materials and the resolution of supply related issues. Participates and/or leads Sourcing strategic activities especially those involving product life cycle and supplier management including but not limited to: product/part phase in-phase/phase-out, local sourcing related initiatives, supplier delivery performance and inventory management. Support Category Management in pricing, terms & conditions, and quality agreements with key strategic suppliers

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for procurement of raw materials and services for Medtronic Kerkrade and Fourmies sites.
  • Responsible for ensuring material availability and continuity of supply for Raw Materials and Manufacturing Impact Materials
  • Responsible for Raw Material Inventory Management
  • Participates in daily site production and Tier meetings. Attend other Staff meetings as directed
  • Maintain and promote strong relationships with suppliers, SQE, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, Quality, Category Management, OEM/CM Supply Management Organization, and any other internal customers.
  • Liaison with the Category Management and Sourcing Engineering Teams in the development of commodity strategies, inputs and discussions about supplier score card and performance reviews (QBR’s).
  • Participate in supplier visits and audits to drive continuous improvement activities (Cost of Poor Supplier Quality Support)
  • Use problem solving techniques/methodologies to identify supplier delivery root cause and achieve resolution of production continuity events (support sCAPA when necessary)
  • Knowledge of the quality system and responsible for following all purchasing control proceduresSite support for regulatory body audits
  • Attendance and engagement in the SiOP process and the Global Supply Chain planning target consensus meetings/reviews. Communicate changes to Purchasing Center of Excellence
  • Creation and presentation of monthly inventory reviews
  • Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, budgeting and issue resolution.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Materials Management or Supply Chain related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Fluency both written and orally in English and Dutch.

Nice to Have

Experience in leading and influencing negotiations, project management, troubleshooting and problem-solving analysis, strategic thinking and collaborative team building.

Progressive experience in inventory management, purchasing, production control and planning in a Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and or Manufacturing environment.

  • Solid computer skills: i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project. Advanced Excel knowledge (vlookup, pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of procurement/planning principles, regulations, theories and processes.
  • Expert understanding and experience with integrated manufacturing software systems
  • Working knowledge of Demand Flow, JIT, K-Loop, Lean Manufacturing
  • Must have knowledge of industry terminology, processes, work-flow and materials.
  • Exposure to supply chain, planning, purchasing, materials and inventory control environment
  • Continuous improvement/ lean/ six sigma accrediation
