About the job

At Google, we aim to foster Googley work environments that are collaborative, friendly and fun. The Facilities Management team brings our spaces to life as you oversee the daily operations of our offices. While roles with similar names at other companies can be far more mundane, you're a creative, organized customer service specialist, who takes pride in seeing things run smoothly and efficiently. You go out of your way to make sure your clients are not only satisfied, but singing Google's praises. You're comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the highest standards of excellence. You aren't afraid to have fun with your job, and bring an enthusiasm, dedication and a collaborative spirit to build and maintain office spaces that facilitate some of the world's most cutting edge innovation.

As a Technical Program Manager for Data Center Operations, you will be deeply involved in nearly every aspect of operations of our electrical, cooling, and IT infrastructure in our Google Cloud Platform regions. You will partner with Data Center Engineering, Hardware Operations, Network Infrastructure, and third-party data center vendors and operators with a focus on operability, maintainability, and reliability.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We're always on call to keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the data center Business Continuity Program. Develop and implement plans to ensure that each data center is prepared to continue the business through disaster scenarios.
  • Act as the operations liaison to our corporate disaster recovery and testing team. Develop and prioritize test areas and implement data center drills.
  • Work closely with the global training team to develop and implement innovative ways to train the team (e.g., simulators, hands on training, virtual reality, etc.).
  • Lead various projects and programs to drive long-term objectives for the Data Centers team and beyond.
  • Identify process breakdowns across organizational workflows and implement solutions that improve processes effectively and continuously.

Though Google has grown a lot since it opened in 1998, we still maintain a small company feel. At lunchtime, almost everyone eats in the office café, sitting at whatever table has an opening and enjoying conversations with Googlers from different teams. Our commitment to innovation depends on everyone being comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. Every employee is a hands-on...
