Solarplaza is looking for a Business Developer (32- 40 hours a week)

Through connecting solar players on a global scale, we play a vital role in accelerating the renewable energy transition. As a business developer at Solarplaza you will be responsible for reaching out to leading solar companies and deepening the relationship with existing partners. With the overall goal to create a foundation for successful events. You will develop engaging value propositions to maximize the (financial) impact for each stakeholder.

Solarplaza organizes high-level events and trade missions - focused on solar and related renewable energy topics - in both established and emerging solar energy markets across the globe. With a track record of 130+ events and a network that truly spans the entire world, our mission is to positively impact the world by accelerating the renewable energy transition by facilitating knowledge-sharing at our events and through our content.

Where you come in

Creating the financial foundation for successful conferences and trade missions, by identifying and involving companies as sponsors and partners of these events. Develop an event-based value proposition to optimize turnover per event and, simultaneously, maximize the ROI and experience of sponsors.

We are the (renewable) energy behind our business and the explorers of undiscovered opportunities. We're always on the lookout for better ways to enable our clients and partners . We do this through:

Business development

  • Create appropriate propositions based on sales- and acquisition plans
  • Develop and maintain a customer and prospect database
  • Act as a first point of contact towards sponsors
  • Develop, expand and maintain relationships with leading players in the renewable energy space
  • Build lasting and strong relationships with partners and customers
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from marketing activities
  • Respond to and follow up sales and information enquiries by email, phone, and through personal visits (e.g. international trade shows).
  • Keeping up to date with industry developments through webinars, articles, and newsletters

Account management

  • Speaking with contacts in the market to gain direct market intelligence
  • Actively suggest opportunities to help sponsors increase ROI
  • Build (personal) deep relationships
  • Expand collaborations by up- and cross-selling to other events

Team coordination

Frequent coordination with:

  • Project managers about the strategy and ongoing matters related to the event.
  • Other business developers to understand opportunities for cross-selling.
  • Marketing and design team to ensure optimal exposure for clients/sponsors.
  • Manager Business Development about potential opportunities for new business, tailor-made arrangements

What we are looking for

  • Master level
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in a business development or sales role
  • Experience with working in an international business environment
  • In-depth knowledge or willingness to quickly acquire knowledge about the solar sector
  • Affinity with sustainability and renewable energy technologies
  • Experience with event sales is a plus
  • Experience with sales CRM is a plus
