In This Role

As an Area Sales Manager within the Livestock, Poultry & Dairy business at IDEXX, you will be responsible for the Alertys Ruminants Pregnancy Portfolio. IDEXX is growing rapidly with this portfolio and this is an exciting role and time to join our team! You will be responsible for all sales in the Benelux and the Nordics for AlertysTM. Your key contacts will be milk recording organizations, industry stakeholders, veterinarians and dairy farmers.

You will be responsible for increasing the business with existing accounts and industry partners along with the development of new accounts. You will pursue sales leads and visit customer sites within assigned territory defined by geographic area. In addition to face-to-face meetings, engaging with customers over the phone and internet to drive the business forward, you will also be responsible for the execution of the sales strategy, identifying new opportunities and clients.

You Will

  • Deliver monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals, within an expense budget.
  • Work with accounts to drive demand of dairy farmers by developing and supporting co-promotional activities, including farmer events.
  • Train the field force of milk recording organizations (field agents, team leads and milk collectors)
  • Leverage other industry channels to maximize sales and customer service franchise objectives.
  • Analyze the characteristics and trends of the local market and help define customer needs for new or modified products and services.
  • Execute sales strategy, identify new opportunities/leads and generate sales reports.
  • Work closely together with marketing field specialists and technical service to grow the market.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • High comfort with both outbound and inbound sales activity, combining account strategy with attention to detail.
  • Strong communications skills including writing, listening and questioning.
  • The ability to speak and start relationships with C-level executives.
  • An intrinsic motivation to work with and for dairy farmers and livestock.
  • Previous successful sales experience.
  • Sales ability /Persuasiveness / Negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish rapport quickly, build and maintain relationships.
  • Capability to absorb and articulate technical information.
  • Highly motivated and goal oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills, especially in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Effective time management skills to ensure desired business outcomes.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • A veterinary background or background in Dairy Farming is highly preferred.
  • Fluent business English required, a second Nordic language would be advantageous.
