The Opportunity:

The EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Supply Chain team is at the core of ensuring the correct goods and services are ordered, are delivered safely, are of high quality; arrive on site at the optimum time at the best price possible.

On power stations, the supply chain teams are an integral part of the station's operation. These teams aer responsible for the safe and efficient working of up to 1,000 contract personnel during outages. The materials management team runs up to a 24hr warehouse operation and expedites spares deliveries from suppliers to support on site work. Other disciplines include procurement engineering, commercial buying, and corporate supply.

For an idea of the type of work you cuold do, recent students have helped organise supplier conferences, tender negotiate and place contracts, support strategy updates and work on nuclear power stations supporting supply chain teams during the delivery of major contracts. You will also get the opportunity to trave to suppliers' offices and our stations in order to support our key stakeholders and internal customers.

This placement is available at our Barnwood Office, Gloucester.

It's worth noting that we don't offer relocation help for Industrial Placements. So if the placemetn you're applying for isn't in your local area, you'll need to be able to cover the cost of moving to and living there yourself.

The Future:

After you've completed your industrial placements, you should know for sure whether you want to be part of the UK's energy future. If all goes well, we hope to see you back at EDF Energy after university, on one of our gradaute programmes.

The Skills:

The successful candidate will be organised and have a strong desire to learn and share learning with others. They will have good communication skills. They will have an ability to interact within a team environmental, display professionalism within a work setting and have both a questioning and challenging attitude. Of key importance is a willingness to get involved with various tasks, and provide support as required.

  • On track to acieve or will have already achieved a 2:1 undegraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in disciplines such as Business, Economics, Mathematics, Geography, Supply Chain and Logistics (although others may be considered for particularly strong candidates)
  • You'll have the profressional outlook and commercial awareness to make the most of your time here
  • Self-motivated, analytical and cool under pressure, you'll combine technical knowledge (specifically MS Office) with great all-round people skills
  • Desire to learn and develop your skills
  • Willingness to relocate
