What is Actuarial – Pensions & Investments at EY?

A fast-changing world can create a lot of opportunity for businesses, but it also creates new risks. We help clients across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) with pension accounts, to identify and manage risks by asking the right questions, setting priorities and creating action plans.

Applications to this programme are now open in the following locations: Leeds and London.

What will you be doing?

  • Analysing data, writing reports, communicating with local and EMEIA-based clients and presenting your work
  • Building proposals for new business pitches
  • Completing actuarial audits of client pension accounts
  • Performing analytics and producing visualisations to support client needs
  • Supporting the investment governance and oversight team in selecting, monitoring and researching fiduciary managers

Are you eligible to apply?

You’ll need a minimum of Level 2/GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language & Maths, three A-levels (with an A in A-level Maths), 5 Highers or equivalent, and an honours degree (in a numbers-based subject like maths, statistics, actuarial, science, physics or economics) by the time the programme starts.

Professional qualifications

with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

Two-years

Our graduate programme lasts two years however, EY will provide continued support and training to help graduates qualify as actuaries, which typically takes 3-5 years in total.

How's it structured?

First up, you’ll do an EY induction before jumping into the deep end and working on real client projects. Your team will be on hand to support you as you learn to analyse client data, write up findings into reports and create client presentations to communicate EY’s recommendations. By your second year, you may even be responsible for supervising and reviewing the work of junior consultants in the team. You may also have the opportunity to work on projects in other actuarial areas (life insurance and pensions) too.

Throughout the programme, you’ll study for actuarial professional exams (supported by a generous allowance) and have many opportunities to join training events and conferences, too. By the time the graduate programme is over, you’ll have a firm understanding of how to use analysis and modelling techniques in order to understand our clients’ businesses and the issues affecting them. Best of all, you’ll be well on your way to a qualification and gaining the knowledge and experience needed to win business for EY, lead projects and progress to more senior positions.

EY is an assurance, tax, transaction and advisory company.
