Do you want to break into sports journalism at one of the world’s best companies?

ESPN – the biggest global sports publisher and broadcaster – is excited to be launching a paid graduate traineeship, based at its London HQ in Hammersmith.

This is a fantastic opportunity for budding sports journalists to learn from some of the best in the business and get their foot in the door at an industry-leading organisation.

This is a four-month traineeship based at the Walt Disney offices in London, where you will be working in a vibrant, dynamic and engaging environment. You will spend time in all of the key departments of ESPN’s London editorial operation, including news, features, live, programming and social. You will also get the chance to get out of the office to report from press conferences and live events.

Sounds good, right? Well, we’re looking for only the very best candidates. You must be a graduate and able to work at our office in Hammersmith, London every day. Working remotely is not an option for this role.

Overseas candidates are not eligible for this position unless you are committed to moving to London and already have the legal right to work in the UK.

You must be tenacious, incredibly enthusiastic, fluent in English, excellent under pressure and have an extensive sports knowledge. We’re looking the best young reporters and editors who are absolutely determined to make the most of four months at ESPN. A second language would also be a real bonus.

Disney and ESPN hugely welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds.

We are currently accepting applications for the April 2020 to July 2020 traineeship. The deadline for applications for this slot is Monday 3 February.

If you have any questions about the traineeship, please email: harry.reekie@espn.com

  • Excellent editing skills – in particular headline writing and photo selection
  • Excellent sports knowledge, especially football
  • Strong copy writing and subbing skills
  • The ability to speak a second language would be a huge bonus, but is not essential
