A Day in the Life

Joining the Medtronic traineeship means entering a one-year program with assignments which are created for you. You will get the opportunity to get to know the organization by rotating in two different functions (e.g. product marketing, digital marketing). As we truly care about people, we also care about you. Cranial & Spinal is one of the businesses that sits within the Restorative Therapies Group (RTG) which develops life-restoring technologies and solutions to treat diseases in the areas of neurosurgical and neurology, orthopedics, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and pelvic health. Our therapies span the care continuum; from early interventional procedures to implantable surgical technologies that relieve pain, restore function and improve lives for our patients.

Your challenges and responsibilities

As part of Medtronic you will be responsible for competitive analysis on the Dutch Cranial Spinal market, mainly focusing on neurosurgical applications of medical technologies. Covering products like spinal implants, high speed drilling systems, products for treatment of hydrocephalus and movement disorders.

You be challenged to plan, create and produce marketing and advertising materials in order to implement marketing strategies and sales objectives. You will be assigned to various marketing projects which can be related to product development, analytics (forecast management), digital marketing or process improvement. You identify product related strengths and weaknesses for the business moving forward and have an active role in determining strategy.

Additionally, you consult with our company management, product managers, sales department, and our advertising agencies to develop and implement promotional plans. We would like to see your recommendations regarding our marketing approach, use of media and our sales philosophy. Moreover, you will be able to perform qualitative market research on relevant products and services. Findings and results will be documented in form of comparison with Medtronic products.

Main job duties

  • Obtain current market demographics on BU level with field force
  • Performing qualitative desk research
  • Periodically presenting progress of the intended timeline
  • Setting and delivering on planned timeline
  • Liaise with the Medtronic Cranial & Spinal portfolio
  • Pro-actively identifying market trends and therapy developments

Job qualifications, competencies and personal values

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively build internal relationships (and preferably external relationships with a wide range of clinical and Non-Clinical stakeholders)
  • A positive person with strong entrepreneurial skills who brings passion, energy and excellence in execution to his/her work
  • Ability to take project ownership, driving and delivering project outcome
  • A team player with a track record of working collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Occasional travel within the designated sales territory is required
  • Computer literacy
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Bachelor level degree or equivalent
  • Less than 1 year of working experience
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
