Young Graduate Trainee for Flight Operations (JUICE)

This post is classified F1.

Location

ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany

Our team and mission

The JUICE Flight Control Team is responsible for operating the JUICE spacecraft during its mission to Jupiter and its moons once it launches in May 2022. In the current phase, we are preparing the ground segment that will be required to control and monitor the spacecraft. This includes following the development of the Mission Control System, the Spacecraft Simulator and the Mission Planning System. We are also preparing the Flight Operations Plan and will soon be carrying out test and validation activities on the Engineering Model of the spacecraft as well as the Flight Model.

Candidates interested are encouraged to visit the ESA website: http://www.esa.int

Field(s) of activity

You will be integrated with the JUICE Flight Control Team, participating in activities for ground segment implementation and operations preparation in advance of the launch. This will include the following:

  • analysing spacecraft documentation to extract operational constraints as defined by industry and payload providers, determining how they are to be defined in the ground segment and documenting this as Operational Rules & Constraints.
  • contributing to the generation of operational products – mainly procedures and refinement of the operational database and participating in interface tests with the spacecraft Engineering and Flight Models.
  • participating in testing relevant elements of the ground segment as the development matures – principally supporting acceptance testing of the Simulator, Mission Control and Mission Planning Systems.
