Gracenote’s Music Works Editorial team is made up of music publishing and international music copyrights experts. We are looking for another expert to join our team as Content Analyst in International Music Copyrights.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review composition and songwriter data for accuracy
  • Ensure that recording and works metadata is of highest quality
  • Identify error patterns and document for Product, Engineering and Operations team members
  • Research/verify publishing ownership and collection
  • Apply independent judgment to review, correct and classify music-related data elements according to established standards and practices
  • Support growing publishing and works database

Day to Day tasks:

  • Ensure that metadata in adheres to our standards
  • Communicate issues and resolutions clearly and concisely, escalating problems as needed
  • Assist in creating and maintaining documentation of workflows, tool use, quality control
  • Learn and master internal Gracenote tools, technologies, data standards, and processes

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU

Successful candidates will have a strong breadth and depth of knowledge about international publishing in the music sphere. In this position, you will combine your industry knowledge with a sharp eye for detail in order to support a recording and works database aiming to be the music industry's independent gold standard for international rights management. You must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable with technology. You must be able to maintain focus on tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-5 years post-collegiate work experience in music publishing administration/international copyrights, or equivalent experience, focused on music publishing data quality
  • Strong research skills with specific understanding of music publishing data resources such as copyright societies (i.e. ASCAP, BMI, PRS, SACEM, GEMA)
  • Knowledge of CWR format
  • Experience in working with large files and data sets (excel)
  • Comprehensive and well-rounded knowledge of wide array of international (and localised) music publishing and/or music rights
  • Ability to review, navigate, and compare vast amounts of textual information from multiple information sources in a rapid manner
  • Have familiarity with data-standardization policies and techniques, styles guides, and/or normalization routines
  • Ability to work independently, without direct supervision, surfacing problems or issues as necessary
  • Detail-oriented with good judgment, critical thinking, and a strong capacity for spotting trends and/or anomalies
  • Excellent internet research skills
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with large amounts of data
  • High computer literacy (use of keyboard shortcuts, efficient file/folder management, etc.) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Understanding of the current state of the (digital) music business
  • English fluency and fluency/familiarity with languages other than English is a plus
  • Experience with databases and other technological infrastructure
  • BA/BS degree preferred
