Reporting to the Global Head of HSSE Improvement this role is a trusted collaborator and consultant to Terminal Leadership and HSSE Teams in developing organizational HSSE capability and high performing HSSE Teams; facilitating the effective integration of HSSE management framework and the APMT Ways of Working; coaching leaders to demonstrate the behaviors required to implement breakthrough HSSE objectives and bringing HSSE performance and compliance successes and shortfalls to the attention of Leadership in a constructive and pragmatic manner.

The role also leads/participates in Global & Terminal HSSE Kaizens including the communication, sharing and implementation of outcomes across Terminals.

Key responsibilities

As a member of the Global HSSE Improvement Leadership Team you will help define and execute a HSSE strategy, fully integrated into all business and operation processes. This will involve building strong, effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.

Functional Leadership

  • Develop and deploy the APMT Operating System at Functional & Terminal Level.
  • Influence and support the HSSE Improvement Team to co-create a HSSE improvement plan that responds to Terminals operational / business risks.
  • Monitors the execution of the annual HSSE improvement plan across Terminals ensuring active prioritisation and escalation where appropriate.
  • Supports the Global Head of HSSE Improvement to promote and communicate the Global HSSE Improvement plan to key internal/external stakeholders.

Driving organizational HSSE capability and high performing HSSE Teams

  • Oversight of the transition of the Terminal HSSE organization to an agile business part-nering organization with the focus on building a simple and consistent way of working across the business, embedding HSSE in the line.
  • Functional Performance Management of HSSE Teams against blueprinting narrative, operating system and HSSE framework assuring they:
  • Are high performing, competent and providing a quality service.
  • adopt and consistently apply the HSSE Management framework, HSSE operating system, control effectiveness tools and safety differently concepts/tools.
  • Provide collaborative leadership and content expertise to drive and support HSSE improvement across the terminal supporting a reduction of errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse outcomes
  • identify good practices and innovative solutions for operational excellence and HSSE;
  • Communicate identified organizational vulnerabilities to key leaders
  • Oversee HSSE event management and analysis including a review of serious events.

Driving APMT’s HSSE Framework and Ways of Working:

  • Provide high quality and knowledgeable HSSE technical support and coaching on:
  • the effectiveness of Terminal HSSE operating systems and management frameworks including other HSSE regulatory compliance.
  • operational risks and terminal performance including improvement activities to achieve a reduction in HSSE events whilst driving operational excellence

Coach Operational and Leadership teams:

  • Provide high quality coaching to terminal Operational and Leadership teams to:
  • Build their understanding of their responsibilities and impact on control effectiveness and behaviors –
  • embed HSSE into the Line and upskill on safety differently.
  • Drive engagement and continuous HSSE improvement, through observation, reinforcement of real-time feedback regarding HSSE behaviours,
  • create an environment where proactive HSSE activities identify and anticipate potential problems, detect them early, and respond in advance of an event to prevent adverse outcomes.

Global & Terminal HSSE Kaizens

  • Lead/Participate in Global HSSE Kaizens including the communication and implementation of outcomes across Terminals
  • Support the deployment of the AMPT Global HSSE Improvement Plan. "

We are looking for

  • Diploma or Equivalent in Health, Safety, Security or Environmental discipline
  • 2-4 years + Experience in HSSE at a senior level with a proven track record in the delivery of business objectives. Understands the tools and techniques used to identify system or process failures that contribute to HSSE issues and has basic understanding of Safety differently
  • Understanding of Operating Systems and Lean Methodologies: Lean problem solving skills, L3
  • Strong coaching skills – preference a recognised coaching qualification
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills - Ability to verbally communicate concepts, motivate, influence and inspire others
  • Strong written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and due dates
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent group and process facilitation skills
  • Travel up to 50%
  • English level of minimum 13 – EF
