Are you a Master student with experience in Mechanical Analysis and affinity with FEM? Then this apprentice internship could be interesting for you.

Job Mission

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML lithography systems. The department Mechanical Architecture (MA) is designing, building and analyzing mechanical systems and sub-systems which are fitted into the end products. The group Mechanical Analysis is responsible for precision engineering of critical modules and for general mechanical analysis. Are you eager to further develop your mechanical expertise? To be part of the state-of-the-art technology innovation and multiple engineering discipline? If so, then an internship as mechanical analyst at ASML could be the perfect next step in your career.

Job Description

For this assignment you will join the FEM team of the Mechanical Analysis group. In this team, engineers use finite element approach to analyze different parts of the machine for their mechanical performance. In this assignment you will work on:

1) Understanding and theoretically explaining the causes of negative eigen frequencies in a pre-loaded (compression) modal analysis;

2) Understanding and theoretically explaining the causes of positive eigen frequencies in a pre-loaded (tension) modal analysis;

3) Creating and validating the state space model of the pre-loaded component by checking if the static stiffness and dynamic behavior is correct.

Education

You are a Master student in Engineering (Mechanical, Applied Mathematics, Mechatronics, Biomechanical, Aerospace and Civil). You are experienced with Mechanical analysis and have affinity with FEM. Experience with ANSYS, NX or Hypermesh is a plus. Furthermore, you have a strong analytical ability with a pragmatic attitude and a creative and logical thinking capability. In addition, you are a proactive student and are good in reporting. The English language is required, both written and verbally.

This is a Master apprentice internship for 5 days a week with a duration of minimum 4 months. The start date is as soon as possible.

Please keep in mind that we can only consider students (who are enrolled at a school during the whole internship period) for our internships and graduation assignments.

I am a mechanical design engineer at ASML. In our EUV, or extreme ultraviolet light machines, we use this kind of light to create tiny features on the microchips.
In order to create this light we use tin droplets and we shoot them with a high power laser.…
