GENERAL SUMMARY

This role comprises assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports to meet management and statutory (US and UK) requirements. The candidate will join an experienced team in Dumfries providing financial reporting, SOX compliance and management support for the UK Animal Health businesses. The position holder must have the potential to progress to a qualified accountant and have responsibility for the accounts for a smaller group business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly accounting statements with specific responsibility for certain areas of the balance sheet.
  • Assisting the financial accountant with the preparation of annual statutory accounts.
  • Preparation of Intrastat and assistance with VAT returns.
  • Expense and KPI analysis at cost centre level together in particular logistics, distribution centre efficiency and headcount.
  • Sarbanes Oxley /internal audit testing
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and accuracy, together with an enquiring mind are the key attributes for the successful candidate

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Part Qualified accountant:

Experience:

  • Partly qualified
  • Min 12 months experience in a finance department or accountancy practice.

Education:

Graduate or high level of achievement at A level or equivalent.

Specialised Knowledge and Skills:

Willingness to study the business and group, including management, reporting & review processes

Other:

Good working knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint and an ability to analyze large data sets/large volumes of transactions.
