Description

We believe in creating an environment where our placement student really can learn by doing during their time with us and where they are given their own areas of responsibilities from the start. That’s why our experts treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

The Credit Risk team takes full responsibility for Retail and Wholesale Credit Risk for BMW Financial Services while the Residual Value Risk team is responsible for assessing the financial risk presented by all elements of vehicle value depreciation. Both areas manage this by developing and maintaining risk models and processes, all with the general aim of providing an appropriate structure to be implemented into IT systems to ensure correct lending decisions are made.

What awaits you?

  • Understanding how group provisioning and planning models work in order to analyse potential business impacts.
  • Exploring and developing the use of the wealth of data available using industry recognised techniques and tools such as data mining in SAS.
  • Analysing and developing financial loss forecasting models and methodologies, calculating parameters and carrying out scenario testing.
  • Involvement in the development of Retail application Credit Scorecards, large scale data manipulation techniques and exposure to the balance between statistical results and business requirements.
  • Involvement in the development of vehicle value forecasting, including time-series analysis, regression techniques and system implementation.
  • Involvement in implementation of statistical models into live systems and further monitoring of their performance, analysis of issues and potential for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Studying towards a business economics, mathematical, analytics or similar related degree (on target for 2.1 or above). Ideally one statistics module should have been taken but this is not essential.
  • Natural aptitude for numerical analysis, have good attention to detail and be willing to learn.
  • Competent in standard windows packages such as Word and Excel. Knowledge of software such as SAS is desirable, however training will be provided so it’s not essential.
  • Confident, first class communicator with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work at both a detailed and high level, prioritise activities, work under pressure and multi-task.

Why choose us?

  • Great Pay – A competitive annual salary of £17,500, 27 days holiday and a pension scheme (pro rata to your contract) as well as a subsided on-site restaurant.
  • Rewarding Work-Life Balance – contracted working hours are 37.5 hours a week, our hot desk policy means we encourage flexible working where the business needs allow it (i.e. working from home, flexible working hours, etc.).
  • Exciting Additional Benefits - Throughout your internship you will be supported by our experts and many fellow interns.
